Geography

Kadukutty Grama Panchayat is located in the Chalakudy Block of Thrissur district. Kadukutty is a Special Grade Panchayat, and the village it falls under is Kallur-Vadakkummuri. There are 18 wards in Kadukutty Panchayat. The boundaries of the panchayat are Koratty and Meloor panchayats to the east; the Chalakudy River and Chalakudy Municipality to the north; Mala and Annamanada panchayats to the west; and Annamanada panchayat to the south. Today's Kadukutty Panchayat is the northern region of the old Kallur village. This area was originally part of the old Adoor Farka. In those days, it was known as Kallur Vadakkummuri Panchayat. The first Malayalam printing press in Kerala, established by Arnos Padiri, was located near Sampaloor in this panchayat. To resist the invasion of Tipu Sultan, the kings of Travancore and Cochin jointly built a long fort extending from the Arabian Sea to the Sahyadri mountains. The remnants of this fort, its accompanying trench, and historical ammunition can still be seen scattered here and there. This panchayat is also the birthplace of Panampilly Govinda Menon. In 1952, the Kallur Vadakkummuri Village Panchayat came into existence. The first elected committee was formed in 1954. On September 22, 1989, Kallur Vadakkummuri Panchayat was renamed Kadukutty Panchayat. The majority of the people in Kadukutty Panchayat depend on agriculture for their livelihood. The Chalakudy River flows through Kadukutty Panchayat for a distance of about 6 kilometers.

  • Area: 17.63 square kilometers.
  • Topography: Due to the presence of the Chalakudy River, the soil here is extremely fertile. The terrain is highly suitable for cultivating crops such as coconut, paddy, banana, and nutmeg.
